Ryan Jane Jacoby, Ph.D.

Ryan is a staff psychologist at the OCD and Related Disorders Program at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and an Instructor in Psychology (Psychiatry) at Harvard Medical School (HMS). Ryan completed her undergraduate studies at Williams College and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ryan’s research interests are broadly focused on the nature and treatment of OCD and anxiety disorders, including specific interests in psychological mechanisms of change in exposure-based therapy for OCD and anxiety-related problems (e.g., intolerance of uncertainty, repetitive negative thinking) as well as treatment augmentation strategies that capitalize on these mechanisms of action. In her collaborations with the Lerner lab, Ryan aims to better understand difficulties with judgment and decision-making that characterize individuals with OCD (especially in the context of uncertainty and ambiguity).
